$499 Flat-Rate Explained: What qualifies and what doesn’t?

At Windows Direct - Utah, our advertised $499 flat rate for "most windows installed" is a simple, transparent price designed to make replacing windows easy to understand and budget for. This flat rate means that for many standard, single-family home window replacements, we charge $499 per window installed — and that price includes the window unit itself (for the qualifying standard sizes and series), basic removal of the existing window, professional installation labor, standard exterior and interior trim touch-up, and basic clean-up of the work area. The $499 offer typically applies to single-hung, single-slide, and fixed picture windows, double-glazed upgrades within our qualifying product lines that meet our standard size range (commonly 24"–48" width and typical heights), and installations where the opening is in good condition and does not require major structural work.

What the $499 flat rate does not cover are non-standard situations and optional upgrades. Exceptions include over-sized or specialty windows (bay, bow, shaped, tempered, arched, or unusually large units), windows that require framing modifications, structural reinforcement, or extensive carpentry to repair rotted sills or damaged jambs. Additional charges also apply for premium glass packages (e.g., specialized coatings, triple-pane, certain low-E upgrades beyond the qualifying series), decorative grilles, and elaborate interior trim or casing beyond our standard finishing. If multiple windows are ordered as part of a whole-house replacement, there may be bundled pricing or special promotions that differ from the single-window flat rate.

To qualify for the flat rate, we perform an on-site measurement and inspection prior to finalizing the quote. During this visit our estimator verifies window size, sash configuration, condition of the existing opening, access, and any potential obstacles that could require extra labor or materials. If the window and opening meet our standard installation criteria, we honor the $499 price per unit on the final contract. If the estimator identifies necessary repairs or custom work, we provide a clear, itemized estimate listing the additional costs and explain why they’re needed so you can make an informed choice.

Warranty, installer professionalism, and code compliance are included when the flat rate applies. Our installation follows manufacturer guidelines and local building codes to maintain product warranties and energy-efficiency claims. If you have questions about a specific window type in your home—such as sliding windows, casement windows, or picture windows—or you’re unsure whether your situation is standard or requires custom work, schedule a site visit so we can give a definitive, written price. Our goal is to keep pricing straightforward: $499 for most standard windows installed, with any exceptions explained up front and in writing so there are no surprises.
